Busy mornings and strapped for time? You are going to love these overnight oats with applesauce and Greek yogurt. A fantastic, quick, and well-balanced breakfast bursting with flavor and a visual showstopper to lure in even the pickiest of eaters.

Wouldn’t you agree that overnight oats are simply super convenient and sometimes even sport “lifesaving” qualities? Not literally, of course, but in terms of time consumption ;).
Spend a few minutes in the kitchen the night before to assemble your goodies, place them in the fridge, et voilà, here’s looking at you, kid, sitting there and enjoying a quick and nutritious breakfast the next morning. Extra points for guessing which movie this quote is from. ;)
Here, we combine rolled oats with almond butter, applesauce, and yogurt to create an incredibly tasty breakfast treat.
Ingredients
You’ll only require a few simple ingredients to create these flavorful overnight oats with applesauce and yogurt:

- Rolled oats: The base of our recipe. Rolled oats, old fashioned oats, or quick oats will work best in this dish as far as texture is concerned. If you choose to go with steel-cut oats, make sure to use a little less milk, as these will not swell as much as the above-listed oat varieties.
- Almond butter: Natural, smooth, and unsweetened almond butter will provide this dish with its particularly unique taste. Feel free to use blanched almond butter (a tad bit harder to find at the store, but feasible) or just almond flour or almond meal.
- Greek yogurt: You may use whichever milkfat percentage floats your boat.
- Vanilla bean powder: A touch of vanilla bean powder (ground vanilla beans) will elevate this recipe’s palate to the next level.
- Applesauce: For a healthy and nutritious breakfast, I highly recommend unsweetened applesauce. Of course, if you prefer the sugar-enhanced version, go right ahead. Whatever you decide, make your own or find it at pretty much any grocery store.
- Cinnamon: I strongly suggest using Ceylon cinnamon instead of Cassia cinnamon, as it contains less coumarin. Most stores sell Cassia cinnamon, but Ceylon cinnamon can be found as well; you’ll just have to read the labels a bit more carefully.
See the recipe card further down for more detailed information regarding measurements.
Instructions
Preparing the overnight oats with applesauce is super-duper easy.
Step 1
Place your oats, milk, and almond butter, along with some cinnamon (measure as preferred), into a container and mix well.
Set aside for a few to allow for the oats to swell and absorb some of the liquid.
Step 2
While you wait, add vanilla to your yogurt to refine and enhance its flavor. Do so by simply stirring the vanilla powder into your yogurt until well incorporated.
Due to the expensive nature of vanilla beans and vanilla bean powder, I’m going to leave it up to you whether or not to use them. For me, the combination of vanilla and cinnamon is unbeatable, so I highly recommend it. ;)
Step 3
Have your applesauce ready. Let’s start layering our breakfast goodness into two glass jars:
First, we add our applesauce to the bottom of each container, followed by our delicious yogurt, and finish with the oat-milk mixture on top.
Use an airtight glass container with a lid, such as a Mason jar with a screw top, clamp lid, or swing top. Pretty much any airtight see-through container will do, as long as our beautiful creation can also be admired visually. A feast for the eyes as well, so to speak.
Step 4
Now tightly seal the containers and place them in the fridge overnight.
Simply grab your applesauce overnight oats from the fridge the following morning and enjoy your breakfast bowl of delightful yumminess. Or take them to go if you’re pressed for time. 😉
Quite convenient, don’t you think? 😉
