Additional tips for the ingredients in question include:

  • Chickpeas: There are approximately 15.5 ounces of net weight in a typical can of chickpeas.โ€ฏIn covering the recipe, make sure to follow the drained weight indicated on the product.
  • Tuna: Iโ€™ve used tuna in water for this specific recipe. If you decide to use tuna in oil instead, consider using a little less of it in the dressing. Thatโ€™s completely up to you, however. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Avocado: The ripeness of the avocado depends on your preference. An unripe avocado tends to have more of a bite to it and be a bit โ€œchunkierโ€ overall, whereas a perfectly ripe avocado will add more creaminess to your salad.
  • Onion: The recipe calls for a red onion, which is the ideal companion to enhance and round out our salad beautifully in terms of flavor and aromatics. Not to mention the delightful pop of color it will add to our dish. ๐Ÿ˜‰ A feast for the eyes as well as our tummies. As an alternative, you can, of course, use a white onion as well.

More Tips and Recipe Variations

Listed below are tips for preparing the recipe, additional information about the recipe in general, and suggestions for delicious variations.

  • Do you love feta cheese as much as I do? Go for it and toss some in. An incredibly tasty addition to your salad and another boost of protein.
  • Another option would be to press a garlic clove into your dressing. This will provide a wonderfully intense aroma, taking the dishโ€™s flavor profile to the next level.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed freshly made, only having rested for a short while.
  • Over time, the salad will simply lose some of its liquids while simultaneously becoming mushier. Of course, feel free to store any leftovers for later consumption. Preparing the salad close to serving time is, however, highly recommended.
  • Leftovers may be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • The tuna chickpea salad makes for an ideal light side salad and will taste especially refreshing during the hot summer months.
  • This would also be an excellent entrรฉe. A baguette, for instance, would be a nice crunchy companion to your salad. If served as an entrรฉe, you might have to adjust your recipe measurements to create slightly bigger portion sizes.
  • How about filling a wrap with the tuna salad or smothering your favorite slice of bread with it? Both sound delish, right? Consider chopping your ingredients a touch finer, if youโ€™re shooting for bread spread.
